This is the excavation site of Bethsaida, a fishing village located where the Jordan River flows into the north end of the Sea of Galilee. Bethsaida was home to three of Jesus' fishermen-apostles, Philip, Peter, and Andrew. Jesus' miracle of feeding the 5,000 (Luke 9:10-17) took place nearby.
