This is a picture Bill Humble took of the buried army at Xian, China. Each of the 6,000-8,000 life-size statues has a distinctive face, as if a real soldier posed for the sculpture. Photography was forbidden by a posted sign. After snapping the pictures, Humble was approached by a man who identified himself as a member of the secret police.
