Pilate Inscription
This monument inscription clearly shows the name "Pilatus,"
referring to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Palestine
during the time of Jesus. Discovered in 1961, this inscription is
the only archaeological evidence of Pilate. The monument is
located in the Israeli Museum in Jerusalem. Read about
Pilate's role in the crucifixion of Jesus in the Bible book called
Matthew 27:11-56 and John 18:28-19:16.
